Things to Do in August When You Are a Collector

It is hard to believe that July is nearly complete. While time may fly for some, it cannot arrive early enough for those addicted to this hobby of ours, as August is a month for collectors. Highlight of the month, of course, is the 27th Annual Sports Collectors Convention, held in Chicago July 30th to August 3rd. For those inclined to attend, but cannot make it to Chicago, August also brings the mini-me of the National Convention, the East Coast Nationals in White Plains, New York scheduled August 14th to August 17th.

If national card shows don’t strike your fancy, then there are a number of products coming out next month you can anticipate ripping (or searching for on eBay). Best of the month (sorry FB collectors) is 2008 Bowman Chrome Baseball, due out the 14th of August. For the football collectors among us, SPx and Bowman Sterling have to be the highlights, but with Upper Deck Football, Topps Stadium Club, Donruss Threads, Topps Chrome and Score Select also on the menu there has to be something for everyone next month.
