More Hair in Your Cards?
Upper Deck has introduced into its 2008 A Piece of History Baseball set an insert set of Hair Cuts. Not just one hair card of say George Washington or Abraham Lincoln, but an entire set. Upper Deck has procured locks of hair from fifteen different historical figures to be encapsulated into trading cards.
If the company purchased locks of hair, it can be realistically anticipated that not only will these cards not be 1/1’s, but that we’re going to be seeing these “hair” cards much more frequently. As is a common trend, the company saw success and publicity that came with the first couple such cards and is now exploiting it to the fullest.
Fans and collectors were able to get a first peak at these cards at the National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago.
Among such rare hairs are Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Napoleon Bonaparte, Andrew Jackson, King George III, Lord Nelson and Geronimo.
It just makes one wonder just how far card companies will go just to be able to label themselves as “innovative.”

absolutely amazing- that’s innovative! where do they get the hair? why is it just a 1/1? did they buy only one single short strand?

I pulled a redemption George Washington hair card about a month ago. I recieved it last week. Is there any known pricing on these cards yet?

According to Upper Deck, they purchased “locks,” so I can only assume they’ve got a number of these hairs for each individual.
As to pricing, I’m suer that all of these cards won’t be priced due to scarcity. Your best bet is to keep an eye on the ones that pop up on eBay and see where they end at auction to get an idea of value.
