Since everyone has declared/stayed, I thought I'd put up my first mock of the year. I know there will be trades but I hate projecting trades. I'll italicize the teams in the top 10 who could easily trade down, if necessary. Have at it.
* = Underclassman
1. Miami - DE Chris Long, Virginia
- A perfect fit for the 3-4 defense Parcells is sure to instill in Miami.
2. St. Louis - DE Vernon Gholston*, Ohio St.
- The Rams need a pass-rusher, and Gholston is the best pure pass-rusher available.
3. Atlanta* - RB Darren McFadden*, Arkansas
- The Falcons need tons of help, so why not take the best talent in the draft?
4. Oakland* - DT Glenn Dorsey, LSU
- The Raiders would be ecstatic if Dorsey falls to them at No. 4, as he's the best defensive player in the draft.
5. Kansas City* - OT Jake Long, Michigan
- The Chiefs take the widely-consider best OL in the draft (I like Clady better). They need lots of help on the O-Line.
6. N.Y. Jets - S Kenny Phillips*, Miami (FL)
- The top four on the Jets' board are gone, so they take the player most worthy of the pick here. They beef up their secondary with Phillips.
7. New England (from SF) - CB Aqib Talib*, Kansas
- The Pats have a decision here: They can take the best player available or pick for need. So they pick for need and take one of the best CBs in the draft. Talib helped his stock in the Orange Bowl.
8. Baltimore - QB Matt Ryan, Boston College
- This pick would make even more sense if Jason Garrett accepts the head coaching job in Baltimore. Let's face it: Kyle Boller isn't getting it done (and he's a FA) and Steve McNair is just about done.
9. Cincinnati - DT Sedrick Ellis, USC
- The Bengals need help on the DL, so they grab the second-best DT available. I liken Ellis to Tommie Harris.
10. New Orleans - CB Antoine Cason, Arizona
- With Malcolm Jenkins returning to school, Cason becomes the best CB available, and the Saints need a CB in the worst way.
11. Buffalo - WR Malcolm Kelly, Oklahoma
- The Bills need a legit WR opposite Lee Evans, so they grab the best WR in the draft in Kelly.
12. Denver - OLB Keith Rivers, USC
- Rivers is a beast and the Broncos will glady snatch him up at No. 12.
13. Carolina - OT Sam Baker, USC
- Baker fits Carolina's zone-blocking scheme perfectly, and with Phillips gone, OT is the biggest need -- both of its OTs are free agents.
14. Chicago - QB Andre' Woodson, Kentucky
- Rex Grossman? Brian Griese? Kyle Orton? Come on. Woodson has the most talent of any QB in the draft and the Bears should feel fortunate he's available here.
15. Detroit - OT Ryan Clady*, Boise St.
- George Foster isn't good, so the Lions bolster their OL with the second-best tackle in the draft (my No. 1 tackle).
16. Arizona - RB Jonathan Stewart*, Oregon
- With the top OTs gone, the Cards make a surprise pick in Stewart.
17. Minnesota - WR Adarius Bowman, Oklahoma St.
- Bowman has great size and speed and is just what the Vikings passing game needs.
18. Houston - CB Mike Jenkins, South Florida
- Houston could go a number of directions here (OL, RB, CB), so they grab the one of the best CBs available in Jenkins.
19. Philadelphia - DE Derrick Harvey*, Florida
- A Harvey/Cole pass-rush combo would be awfully tough to defend against.
20. Tampa Bay - QB Brian Brohm, Louisville
- Jeff Garcia is a short-term solution in Tampa and who knows about Chris Simms. Brohm, once considered to be a No. 1 overall pick, will fit nicely in Tampa.
21. Washington - DE Calais Campbell*, Miami (FL)
- Campbell's lackluster senior season allows him to fall this far. He has loads of talent and will fit in well with Washington.
22. Dallas (from CLE) - RB Felix Jones*, Arkansas
- The Boys could trade up to grab McFadden, but I'm sure they'd be just fine grabbing his collegiate teammate.
23. Pittsburgh - OT Jeff Otah, Pittsburgh
- The Steelers could use an infusion of youth on the OL, and Otah has a lot of potential.
24. Tennessee - WR James Hardy*, Indiana
- The Titans finally bring in the big target Vince Young needs.
25. Seattle - RB Rashard Mendenhall*, Illinois
The top-four RBs all have Pro Bowl potential, and Mendenhall should fit in quite well in Seattle.
26p. N.Y. Giants - OLB Dan Connor, Penn St.
The Giants grab LB from Linebacker U. Connor would give the D a nice boost.
27p. San Diego - CB/S Reggie Smith*, Oklahoma
- A S/CB 'tweener, the Chargers' weakest spot is the secondary. Smith would play safety for the Bolts.
28p. Jacksonville - WR Mario Manningham*, Michigan
- Matt Jones is looking like a bust and Reggie Williams isn't anything special. The Jags hope Manningham turns out to be another Jimmy Smith.
29p. Green Bay - CB Leodis McKelvin, Troy
- The Packers could use some CB depth, and they get a good one with McKelvin.
30p. San Francisco (from IND) - WR DeSean Jackson*, California
- I'm not sure if he'll fall this far, but new OC Mike Martz loves receivers like Jackson. He's also a dangerous return man.
31p. Dallas - CB Jack Ikegwuonu*, Wisconsin
The Boys need help in the secondary, and Ikegwuonu would look awfully nice in the Dallas defensive backfield.
32. New England - Forfeited
