Just saw it on MSNBC website. happened about 13 minutes ago. he was indicted on 7 different counts of lying to federal investigators.
long story short, one of the oil companies up here in alaska was indicted last year and he rolled over on a lot of the politicians from alaska, saying he was buying votes. he did that to decrease the amount big oil has to pay alaska in royalties and taxes, and in the process he took down 8 politicians so far, only 5 have been tried and convicted and sentenced. he sold the oil company to a native corporation, but before he did that he also said that Ted Stevens was doing favors for big oil and in return, Ted Stevens had his house in Girdwood renovated and he didn't pay for it. Well about 2 years ago, FBI showed up and did a search warrant on his house in Girdwood, his office in Anchorage, and his office in Juneau and Washington. We have been waiting 2 years for anything, but we also knew that sooner or later (during election time) they would end up indicting him and his son. Only other big persons left are Ben Stevens, his son, and Congressman Don Young.
