instead of banning the 8 cent per gallon gas tax in alaska, our house of reps decided they would give $1200 for each person who was eligible for the PFD to offset the gas prices.

what do they know that we don't yet? 8 cents less would take us down to $4.31 a gallon right now. who knows what it will be in a few months. barrel prices went down but our gas prices haven't.

i dont think that $1200 is going to do a whole lot. i'm sure everyone will end up with a new tv or something they don't need. but the catch is, if our PFD's turn out over 3K the $1200 is just and "advance". how can it be an advance if it's being offered?

yeah we are getting hosed since the oil to make the gas starts here. Damn non state refineries. what moron never figured it would be a smart idea to have more than 3 oil tank farms in the state to make gas here instead of paying to get it out of the state and back in.

some parts of alaska it's already $10/gal and hasn't moved in the last month.

i did see a sign yesterday showing $4.36/gal so i might have to fill up tomorrow
