I have been watching this this all week, and last night was classic. First we have Bill Clinton take the stage. THey stood and applauded for him for several minutes after taking the stage. The whole time he was asking for people to stop, but them admitted he loved it! LOL....

Seriously though, after what GW has done to ruin this country, it was refreshing to see a President that can actually speak.....

Hated John Kerry when he ran. But his speech last night was like dropping bombs... He had nothing to lose, and let it fly... good stuff...

FROM HIS SPEECH
"John McCain voted with George Bush 90 percent of the time. Ninety percent of George Bush is just more than we can take," Kerry said, in the first of a volley of attacks which stirred up the Democratic convention crowd.

"To those who still believe in the myth of a maverick instead of the reality of a politician, I say, let's compare Senator McCain to candidate McCain," Kerry said.

"Candidate McCain now supports the wartime tax cuts that Senator McCain once denounced as immoral.

"Candidate McCain criticizes Senator McCain's own climate change bill.

"Candidate McCain says he would now vote against the immigration bill that Senator McCain wrote.

"Are you kidding? Talk about being for it before you're against it."

That final jab was a reference to one of his most notorious comments, which did more than anything to damn his presidential campaign, when Kerry said he was for an Iraq funding bill, before he voted against it.

The Massachussetts senator, who took his bow at his own convention in 2004, with the words "I'm John Kerry and I'm reporting for duty" also slammed McCain for perceived deficits in national security judgement.

"When John McCain stood on the deck of an aircraft carrier just three months after 9/11 and proclaimed, 'Next up, Baghdad!' Barack Obama saw, even then, an occupation of, undetermined length, undetermined cost, undetermined consequences, that would only fan the flames of the Middle East.

"Well, guess what? Mission accomplished," he said, echoing the banner draped behind Bush in 2003 when he declared the end of major combat operations in Iraq from a US aircraft carrier.

McCain has had issues with his own party for a long time, it appears he is trying to be conservative in order to get the rebpublican base behind him.

I find it just as humerous that Joe Biden in an interview a little over a year ago refferred to O'Bama as a nice clean well spoken young African American.

Biden also has gone on the record as saying that the office of the Presidency does not lend itself to on the job training" referring to O'Bama, and said that McCain is ready to lead our nation.

Basically what I mean by this is that Politicians will completely reverse their field when it benefits them.

Interesting read, I haven't voted in many years. I'm still registered & when someone runs that I can pull for I'll vote again.

I was gonna say a lot more but I could get into a rant very easily so I won't.

also important to note

that 90% of the votes in Congress are unanimous

also OBama has voted the same as McCain 90% of the time.

Just a bunch of talking heads saying nothing in those speeches.

I guess Ill just go ahead and say it.

In the last 8 years our country was run into the ground by a total jerkoff and a VP who is afraid of daylight....

I cant wait for something new!

I do not agree with a lot of things that Bush has done, but to have total disdain for the office and the man in it shows what the biggest problem with our country is. Blaming one man is such moronic reductionism, it makes me think that Americans are truly stupid.

I do not know what is dumber thinking you can blame everything on one man, or to think that all the problems of the last 8 years started the day that Bush took office.

Name 3 things that are better off in or for this country now after having W in office.

One of the promises he ran on in 2000 was that there was a failed energy policy because we were paying $30 a barrel of oil. 7 years after that speech it was $141 a barrel. he had an answer.... Still waiting on this one...

"Mission Accomplished" - that was classic....

We had to shut down schools in GA for 3 days 2 years ago because there was not enough fuel in the pipeline to fuel the school busses.... "No child left behind" I guess unless you cant drive them to school LOL.....

Is Cheney still alive..... What has he done in 8 years except create scandel and shoot a guy in the face.....

Of course its not all on one guy. Of course the system is a failure. But how anyone could argue that he is not a complete moron is beyond me.

Cutting the Capital Gains tax is one thing that I see as progress, Obama wants to quadruple it.

plus you are still reducing your argument to blaming Bush for everything.

Well, not quadruple it, 15%-almost 28%

I am sorry I am not a socialist, I do not want to work and strive so I can be taxed and it be given to someone who does not.

I have no problem with charity, I just do not want the government to making my charitable donations.

why IBL

its a politics forum. There are going to be HUGE differences in opinion, and thats ok. I dont hate someone because they support W, I may point and laugh at their bumper stickers, but thats about it.

Debate is good. I like to learn things, and catch up on readings that maybe someone else has read.

Its all good....

Well right now the way this government burns cash something needs to change. When Clinton left, we were no where in as bad shape as we are now.

There needs to be cuts in government spending, something that has not even been a thought in this past leadership for the last 8 years..

he is joking.

Also I am not a huge W supporter. I just think that is poor class and taste to speak like that of the leader of our country.

I would not do it about Clinton or Bush.

Bush has a lot of issues, and what hurts him the most in our shallow culture, is his lack of charima.

If he was more charismatic the idiot masses that are not influenced by facts, but instead feed on emotion would not villify him as much.

He would still have issues and problems, (the war not being the least of these), but to the people who turn on the news and see how biased everything is against him that people presuppose that he is the cause for all of the nations woes.

Just as the media was slanted against Hillary Clinton and pro O'Bama, which helped propel him to victory.

Have you ever known a Democrat to ever cut govt spending?:roflmao:

the Republicans biggest mistakes were not being truly conservative and spending like drunken sailors.

That needs to change, and I do not know if it will under McCain or O'Bama, but it is more likely to change under McCain, who is not looking to provide health care for every person in America, and continue to fund Social Security. 2 things that will cause record spending.

A few things: My dad, and grandfather both fought for me to be able to say anything I want about the guy who is obviously just a face for our country, he hasn't done anything to earn my respect, and the seal on his office is not enough to earn it alone..... If you think what I have to say about him is bad, then you dont want to hear from either of those 2 or the handful of vets that are frends of mine. YIKES..... Dont even mention W around them...

I watch Bush live on tv anychance I get. I dont need reporters to forcefeed me what I should think about him, all it takes is a 20-30 minutes with one of his garden speeches, or pressers.... The guys a joke.

My day is set up such that I am home a lot for work which is awesome. I try to keep up with live stuff on CNN, MSNBC, FOX whenever someone is speaking, I try to listen. I am hoping the next 4 years brings someone who I don't have to cringe at during their pressers...

Have you ever noticed how different of a speaker Bush is now, than 8 years ago? 8 years ago, he actually made it through speeches. He actually at times sounded like he may know what he's doing. His style and dimeaner have change DRASTICALLY over the past 8 years (last 3 more specifically) Like hes 2 different people all together... Utube some of his earlier stuff, you wont beileve it yourself...

I commend the service of your relatives.
I also concede that even though Bush has gotten better at public speaking he is still abysmal.
I have the fundamental belief that you should respect authority, even when you disagree with it, and should behave respectfully. Dissent can be expressed but not at the point of name calling which only causes the one who does it to look classless. I am some times guilty when things get heated of behaving in such a way, but I find it is a sad commentary on our country that we have such complete and utter disdain for our leadership (both the President and Congress)

My point was he USED to be better. Its incredible the difference between 8 years ago and today. 8 years ago he was alright, he had energy, he was convincing. Not so now adays, totally different styles and reactions. Very weird. He has regressed...

.

QFT, I left the Republican Party and went Independent because of this and the "Moral Majority" thing.

But modern history has shown that Dems are better at not overspending. With the talk of McCain in foreign policy I feel pretty safe in saying he will be a big spender like the country's two worst in Reagan and GWB.

I know I am going to take heat for this, but I believe that health care should be a right for every individual. I also know our current health care system is highly flawed as my health is in the hands of people who are more concerned with making money then keeping me alive.

Still undecided as a voter, but McCain needs to get a stronger view of our position in the world.
