The company I work for moved the headquarters from Irvine to Aliso Viejo about a year ago. As part of this move they had a custom two story, salt water fish tank installed in the lobby. The tank cost a million bucks. It's nice an all but I could think of a few other things they could've done with that million dollars. It's so large they need a guy with scuba gear to get in there to clean it.

I will try to take some pictures this afternoon. One cool thing about it is that you can walk on a glass walkway above it and look down into the tank. Still a waste of money IMO.

Well, if they have it to spend, why not! I probably would have gone with freshwater (and leave the saltwater fish in the ocean), but that is my own opinion.
Would love to get a look at that filteration system!

we have a tank very similar to that here in vegas
its at the silverton casino, its probably two stories and they have girls in mermaid suits and scuba gear that clean the thing
its in the casino that has the bass pro shop attached to it which has a big freshwater tank with bass and catfish and junk in it
its all pretty cool at first but you get used to it quick, especially i imagine if it was at work

EXACTLY!!!!! They could've given 1000 employees a bonus of $1000.

If that was my co. or I had stock in them I would not be happy. A waste of money for a business.

I concur with your statement. I had to tell my boss the same thing before. She wanted to get new computers less than 1 year after we already sprung for computers. Told her to take that money you were about to waste and instead give me a payraise.
She didn't buy the computers, I didn't get a pay raise. WTF?

if they gave their employees 1k bonuses, most would probably waste it on hookers :D

and that would be more beneficial to the company than a two story fish tank.

Me being happy after a $1K high class hooker would make me work harder thinking I could get another $1K bonus to get another high class hooker.
