I love how you assume that you are more intelligent than both VP candidates.
I do not think either lacks intelligence. Biden has a way of sticking his foot in his mouth, and Pallin is the most scrutinized woman in the history of the United States. Both have flaws that is for sure, but can we get past the simple rhetoric from both sides and see how they perform in the debate before we slam either candidiate further? I love how you have completely made up your mind on a person, based on a few interviews and media talking points. Obama looked befuddled in an interview with Bill O'Reilly, so did Bill Clinton when he was recently interviewed by Greta van Susteren, just as much as Pallin did on her interview with Charlie Gibson. I see no links to those interviews with your typical over the top behavior though. Objectivity has never been your strong point though.

2 - you dont know me so you have no idea what I read, what I watch, or anything about how I live my life, but nice generalizations.
3 I DO THINK Palin is totally UNQUALIFIED to even be on tv right now. Why cant she stop looking at goto list and look up once in a while, how about she quit dancing around the questions
4 I feel no reason to qualify anything I say about Palin or Mcain to you.
I didnt say I was more intelligent than either candidate, it was simply a joke for a "title". I dont see you questioning LIPSTICK AND DIPSTICK.
I would consider myself to be 100000000000% more qualified to do my job than she is to do hers, and people should know when they are out of their league, and try something else... something she hasnt figured out yet..

blitz-when you first started your job, you didn't know diddly squat about doing your job. how do you expect people to learn a new job? by not giving it to them or letting them earn it?
i honestly think the only part she totally hosed it on, was the beginning of the foreign policy.
obviously someone thinks she's qualified or she wouldn't be where she is right now.
i think both candidates did well tonight. there wasn't a clear winner overall, just in certain sections.

I came away appreciating most candidates more, even though I disagree with some of their viewpoints.
For the record, most of what Palin said about education was the Dems platform and the GOP have not been saying the things she has. Biden hinted at it...
Education is one thing that both sides are off a bit on, but the Dems are closer to what needs to be done.
Good job from both candidates tonight :salut:

I personally think Palin looked like she was in over her head. She avoided questions, spoke in generalities and overused metaphors to the point they lost meaning. I'm still undecided, and, ultimately, how the VP's fair in a debate will have little to do with my vote, but I don't think she looked good at all.

I kinow you well enough from your posts to tell what your personality is. You like attention, and you love to argue. Shouldn't you be spending more time bumping your mail day posts so we can see some more amazing Steeler patches, then retreading the same liberal talking points? All I am saying is you have shown someone no respect, and when I post where others you support have made gaffes, you have not answer, just change the subject or run away from the thread.
I do not know what you read, but some of it comes out in your posts. I have no idea of your education level, but I would venture to say that someone that has been a very successful Governor is just as qualified to be VP, as you are to teach anyone anything. (you have said in past posts that you do so)
I have no idea why you told me to relax, but you are always the one in the middle of a firestorm, you bring it upon yourself.
I think Lipstick and Dipstick shows a lack of respect as well.

I'm not a big fan of Joe Biden, was not happy when Obama chose him as a VP.. but...
I saw a lot of avoiding from both, but a LOT more from Palin. Too much time spent on spouting each other's candidate.
I was not swayed at all by her excuse of "equal teatment of same-sex couples" ..... Liked that little dodge...
Speaking of that ol' bug-a-boo.. that 'same sex" marriage thing.. the reason that I missed a bit of the debate.. I got a call from an old friend that told me that he and his b/f are getting married on 10/31!!! Love for ALL in California!!! and vote NO on prop 8!!!

I think both did a good job. Palin did better than I thought. Think about the pressure that has been put on her and the personal and family attacks and the amount of focus that was on this debate after her stupidity in the Couric interview. Amazing she did so well with a seasoned veteran putting on a good show across from her.
This whole experience thing is overrated. I DO NOT think it's as HUGE an issue as it's made out to be. I just find it ironic that people who are voting for an inexperienced person for President are so hung up on the lack of experience of the VP candidate.
I am going to vote for McCain because he is closer to the center than the others. Although I can't stand the term, he has been a "maverick", he doesn't have a problem bitch slapping his party and has pissed off many people for it. On the other hand I find Obama and Biden to be far to the left and I don't like extreme in either direction.
As for some of the things Palin said tonight that were democrat stances, I think it's great. This is what we need. This is what Clinton did right during his presidency in agreeing with some of the policies of the other party to get things done. There is a give and take that needs to happen. Just voting straight along the party line (obama) is never a good thing to have in the White House (Bush).

You wanna debate this?
I have already said that marriage is a two-way street: YOUR personal Religious belief... and what is RECOGNIZED by your local LEGAL city/state/whatever. At that point, a legal union between TWO PEOPLE....
If your personal religion says that two persons of the same gender can't get married, then OK.. but there are lots of other faiths that say OK to persons of the same gender getting hitched. Who are YOU to say they can't?
Hate the people that say my friends can't get married! :-P

People who are hung up on gay marriage baffle me. Being a musician I work with gay people all the time. To be honest, saying they are gay just seems weird, because to me, I see them as people, just like anyone else who may be gay or not. I have no right to tell someone what they do within their own lives that does not affect me or my family that they are wrong.

Just to clarify, they can do what they want, be with who they want, and all that. Marriage has always been defined as between a man and a woman. If we change that definition, do we later ammend it so someone can marry a goat, if they truly say they are in love with it and want to spend the rest of their life with it.

For every "religion" on this planet Earth that says that two people of the same gender 'should not' get hitched.. there are quite a few others that say that it's OK.

People see what they want to see. I thought Biden did well, I thought Palin held her own, but Biden looked the part to me. Interesting to note they had a focus group of 30+ undecided voters on Fox News (an equal mix of people that voted for Kerry and Bush). A pollster was in there and almost unanimously the room thought that Palin did very well in the debate (better than expected) and that she came off as smart and actually won it. I do not think anyone clearly won the debate, but I do think that she did not embarrass herself like others that lean that way have said on here. I wish I would have tivoed msnbc, and cbs coverage as well, but there were games on.

i don't think she blew it, but i don't think there was an overall winner. there were parts where she did better and parts he did. i do think she frustrated the moderator for not directly answering the questions asked, but that is the mccain campaign speaking. as far as i knew, in debates, there is no tela prompter, you are just allowed to go off your que cards. she definately looked like she was starring at the camera instead of biden.
they both did agree on the gay marriages, and it was nice to see 2 people debating agree on something. regardless of their religious preferences, they both had it right, as a law and constitution, marriage is between a man and woman. regardless of her beliefs, she can have the beliefs and still have someone work for her that is gay, and she does.

The only reason she "held her own" is because she didn't f**k up tremendously. The expectations she had were so low after the Couric interview, it was nearly impossible not to do "well" or "hold her own."
And it'd be nice if she had answered at least one question with some substance behind her answer.

You have to look at it from our point of view. I can almost guarantee no one here has seen anything about her or possibly even heard of her before she was announced as the VP candidate. What she has done thus far is all we have to go on.
And everything that came out after the announcement (earmarks, Bridge, etc.) just put her in a worse light. That's all we really have to go on.
I heard she was a good debater, but I did have my doubts. She definitely didn't do much to hurt herself or the party, but I'm definitely not impressed, either.

but you have to take it from our side too, how stupid people sound, bashing her when the only info they have on her is from a democratic site. obviously a democratic site isn't going to post what really happen, they are going to post, their "view" of what happen. same as a republican site. none of the republican sites i've been to say the same thing about obama/biden as the democratic sites. the views are skewed. i don't talk politics a whole lot because i don't talk about what i don't know, there are things that i stay out of because i know i sound stupid trying to make a comment on something i know nothing about. BUT i have seen what she's been able to do first hand and so far, no one who has bashed her for being picked, has even asked whether what they have heard is actually true. i don't know anything about what obama did in his state while he's been an elected representative, so i don't comment on it. so it makes people sound as dumb as matt damon did when he said he didn't think he could learn enough about her, yet he was bashing her on stuff he knew nothing about.

I have never even been to Obama's site, or any Democratic site for that matter. But, I have watched her on tv, I've watched her not answer questions, read straight off her papers, and just throw out key words as she stumbles over her answers. Regardless of anything she has ever done for Alaska, there are plenty of Americans who can't see her sitting down representing our country with foreign leaders. I know I would never feel comfortable with it, especially from what I saw in the debate and some of her public appearances.
Plenty of people here label me as a Democrat, but if the tables where turned, Id be voting Republican.
Everyone makes errors, when speaking. Obama, Mccain, and Biden have all had their share. But at least with those 3, you get someone who speaks clear, and seems like they belong there. Being able to answer clearly, and get a point across is pretty important, and those 3 have that characteristic, she has yet to prove she does.

It'd be funnier if she wasn't actually being serious.
