Well, I got my cards back from BGS. It certainly gives me a new appreciation of cards in high grades. I was a little disappointed. Here are the results.
#1: My beloved Ripken Rookie... Which I was hoping would come back a 9 or better.

The first grading experience usually sucks. I had a card I was sure was a 9.5 and only got a 9, and then I got 8.5s on a few 85 Clemens rookies that I thought were 9.5s as well. It'll get better.

I mostly just wanted this one encased, although I didn't think the corners were dinged at all...

Stefan sent me this one in the CCC and it graded lower than I thought it would also.
Maybe I need my eyes checked!

This one mysteriously had some damage on the back now that I get it back... Not implying that they did it at all. I think I just overlooked it because I sent it in a thick snap case...

sorry man, grading really is tough. My Dimagio is only the second 9.5 I've received and it really looks pristine beyond pristine.

Lastly, Here's my Leinart Auto JSY that I thought HAD to be a 9.5 ... guess I was wrong. It's for sale and probably going to auction once the preseason starts.

crack the Ripken and send to PSA, anything that is 1987 and back should go there anyway....

PSA seemed so much more expensive, what with the monthly fee plus grading fees ... and they never seem to command as much money as BGS.

I think you are misinformed. PSA requires a membership to grade, but comes with 6 free gradings which pay for the membership.
Also, on vintage/pre-87 ish stuff, PSA stuff sells better.

Interesting... I may look into regrading it.
