you know i thought i was just really REALLY medicated the other night when i saw the thing scrolling across the bottom of the tv and it had a date in june.

has anyone noticed that it only scrolls on the bottom of the screen during certain channels and shows? I get it during Big Bang Theory and NCIS and Numbers. all the other shows, it's fine but during those 3 the color gets all messed up while it's scrolling and once it's done, the color comes back.

I would be suprised if the local broadcasters just aren't that capable of both. My local channels go to crap eith a storm warning or amber alert.

wow we don't have amber alerts up here

i guess this means that i don't need a new tv by next week i can wait a bit now

Because the government has already poured tons of money into advertising. The date has been set for sometime and I know they ahve been doing commercials here since September 2007. There has been plenty of time to prepare for it. Coupons were supposed to be on a first come first serve basis and once they were gone, that is it. They said that a long time ago and had been saying it on my news.

Agreed on that point. A big waste of time and resources now with the push back.

u mean the coupons for the converter boxes? we are able to get them through our local cable company. cause if your tv doesn't have digital capability (non lcd or plasma) you just need a cable box and the cable box will convert the digital signal to your tv.

but i've been looking for an excuse to get a new tv since my dad refuses to share the tv with my nieces, i was gonna have my parents put my tv in the kids room and hook up the wii so they could play games

Yeah, the government was offering $40 coupons for converter boxes on a first come first serve basis.

Dude. Don't even get me started.

Part of my job at the station is to inform people. I've been making DTV promos since like November. Now, they all mean nothing.

Color me surprised..... not. From what I read the digital converter boxes cost $80, and you can get up to 2 x $40 cuopons, but you can only use one per box. There would be mass hysteria if that many people could not turn on a tv and get a signal lol.

No clue why they are $50. The keep saying on the news that they range from $40-50. The one we got for my grandma was $50

The problem was that the funds for converter boxes ran out, that was because people were requesting 4-5 coupons and hoarding converter boxes. Why do people need so many converter boxes? Because sure as hell if the government is giving something away for free, people are going to get them even if they don't need them.
