On Hossa 53 of the 62.4 million is in the first seven 7 years, so take that for what it's worth. A buyout wouldn't be nearly as bad after that point for the Hawks.

That's crazy, Dave just texted me with that as well. Hawks are apparently figuring that right now is their window.

How so? Toews, Kane, Versteeg, Keith, Seabrook, Byfuglien, Burish, etc....all are young. About the only vets they have like Havlat and Campbell aren't even that old. Khabibulin may not be back depending and he would have been the old guy. You guys have a team now to be dominant for 5+ years straight.

Hawks also signed Kopecky to a 2 year deal, and there are reports that they signed John Madden

Latest reports are that all the Hawks qualifying offers to their own free agents (Barker, Versteeg, etc.) were illegal. If the NHL finds they were all these guys become unrestricted FA's :shock:
