I think they want to keep up the tradition of the Big House. The same reason they didnt build a new Lambeau, or Soldier Field in Chicago. It wouldnt be the same in a new stadium

I read awhile ago that most of that will go to making it more handicap accessible. That may have been the whole point of the article you linked. But I'm lazy as hell.

There is absolutely no way they could replace the Big House.
