ok, so pretty much everyone who reads a paper or watches the news, knows about the Arizona Immigration Bill (i believe its HB 1070, could be wrong)
anyway, there have been rallys around the country both supporting Arizona, and supporting the 'rights' of 'citizens' (using those terms loosely)
alright, my first thought...
why doesnt INS send people in to round up those supporting illegal immigration and potentially send them back to home of origin?...its not really 'racial' profiling, since you would get everyone who is against the Arizona Law, and thus, pro law breaking...
my second thought, and its a good one, at least i think so...
why not establish a national fingerprint registry? sure it would be expensive as hell to start up, but stealing someones ID is just too easy these days, and it doesnt even require a good fake in some cases to use a fake social security number to get a job...with a national fingerprint registry, employers would be required to fingerprint all employees and potential hires...
this would establish a few things...
1. Illegal Aliens
2. Working without Visa/documentation
3. Criminal History
most people i know are for immigration as a whole, but they think that people should file the proper paperwork and wait like everyone else...its a long and expensive process, but there are ways to get into the 'speed-line' which includes marriage and military service...
personally, i know several folks who have brought people over through marriage, including a TCGer, but also a long time friend, who has brought his wife, and now part of her family including her dad, and my cousin who has brought over a wife who got her full citizenship within the last 3 months...
while in the navy i know we had at least 1 girl get her full citizenship while on active duty, and we had several 'foreign nationals' on the ship that i think were working on citizenship, most were cooks or electricians because they couldnt hold a security clearance...
i completely understand wanting better for your family, but with the current 'if youre born here, you are a citizen' way, it encourages people to get here establish a family, and then use the 'its not good for the child to leave' thing...i mean yeah, keep the family together, but a 4 year old cant really sponsor someone for citizenship...
/end rant...
