The state law says a tavern can't open within 100 feet of a church or a school.
But as the village board in far northwest suburban Hampshire has found out, it cuts both ways.
The board voted against allowing a church's youth center to open in an old building because a tavern was already open across the street.
"This is a nuance we haven't seen before," Village Administrator Eric Palm acknowledged last week before the board turned down a permit to allow the youth center.

i like that it works both ways  sure a community center for kids is important, but what are the odds that after it got established they would use the law to get rid of the bar?
it was the best of the news i read this morning, what are your thoughts?...
im sure we have some religious type folks, and i know we have people who like bars...
also, i have no problem with the Mosque going in near where the World Trade Center was, not sure if that makes me Anti-American, a hypocrite, or both, but doesnt bother me, as most good folks get grouped in with the crazy folks
