I popped in here earlier to check things out, and heard one heck of a ruckus outside, so ran to the window to check things out....

Well, my orphan cub was up a pine tree, with 'Buddy' (the nicest damn bear around), looking up at him wanting to eat him for supper!

I yelled at Buddy, told him 'no', so he lays down like all is cool with the world, and proceeds to eat, all the while this poor cub is at the very top of this tree hanging on for dear life.

Buddy then goes to the tree, getting bored with corn (he prefers bird seed or sunflower), so I went outside, and Buddy proceeds to come towards me, putting one foot on the deck, like I had food for him. Bear in mind, this animal weighs at least 500 lbs., and he acts like a dog.....just coming closer and closer. So, I ran into the house and grabbed a bucket of sunflower seed and went out to him. He put his damn head into the bucket while I'm holding the thing! Patience obviously is not one of his virtues.

He's a happy camper, cub is asleep at the top of the tree, all is well with the world, when I see a whopper of a bear coming our way, with 3 more in tow!

This damn thing had to weigh around 700lbs., he was HUGE! I ran inside to grab my camera, expecting a bear fight, and go back outside. (yep, I'm Polish) ha! He comes up to Buddy, they act like they're gonna fight, then all make nice and he starts coming towards ME! I yelled, screamed, grabbed the grill scraper and banged on the deck, grabbed some rocks (pretty big ones at that) and threw them at them, and those damn bears refused to leave!! Games they play are unreal. They went in the swamp, back-tracked towards me, I hit big-boy with a rock, he went the other way, back-tracked again, I'm yelling at the top of my lungs, banging on the deck, all hell is breaking loose. Only bear that left like a bat outta hell was poor Buddy....:(

Finally 'think' I got rid of everyone, tried calming the poor cub down, and came inside and took some meds for pain....lol. (took a hell of a lot outta me, that's for sure)

About 15 minutes later, I hear something, and here the cub is in the woods, and Buddy is back, soaking wet. I 'thought' I saw him chasing one of the other bears, but wasn't sure. When Buddy saw me, he ran away so fast, I just sat down and cried.....:(:(

'Think' I just lost my good friend, all cuz of those damn other nasty bears. Next time, I'm getting a gun out. It won't hurt me so much, and I think the noise will scare them a lot more.....

Now, the cub is eating, still has no one, and the DNR won't come get him cuz they are 'waiting for his mother to come'. That was over 2 weeks ago that I called them for help. Nice, heh?

By the way, when I say the bears are in the back, they are only 15 feet from my window. Been one hell of a long evening, that's for sure!
