View Full Version : 3M being sued because kids died huffing
http://www.startribune.com/535/story/1218419.html
The parents claim that there were no warning labels, but there are ones on the can. This should be thrown out soon.
The parents argued that 3M should have known that teenagers frequently abuse aerosols, solvents and dust removers in a practice known as "dusting" or "huffing" that produces an inexpensive high. Adequate warning labels could have saved their child, the couple argue in their suit.
3Ms response
Fleming added that the product "does have a warning on the label. It says that 'Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the contents may be harmful and fatal.' "

Ridiculous. I am sorry but manufactures cannot be liable for the myriad of idiotic acts people are capable of. There are already some unbelievably stupid labels on products to warn people of things you'd think would never need to be warned of. What a joke.
I noticed one on my wife's hair dryer that stated it's not intended for internal use on a person. Really? Is that a new rule?

not sure if this is any dumber than Josh Hancock's parents suing the bar that served him before his accident, but it ranks right up there. Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

well if it's 3M's fault for not making the fatality will be emminent label bigger, than the store that sold it to the kid should be liable too, and the person who drove the kid there and forced him to spray it and hold it up to his mouth.
i know in Cali you have to have ID to buy spray paint and some paint chemicals can't be sold without ID and they are tracked there.
People need to relaize that a junkie is gonna get his fix no matter what. we have drunks up here that drink Listorine and mouthwash cause they can't afford a bottle and it's easier to steal. Painters are stoners because the regular paint fumes don't do it, they spray without respirators and have about 4 brain cells left. kids in the village huff paint thinners and GAS, gas mostly since they have 4 wheelers everywhere.
so if a kid huffs gas is it the person who owns the vehicles fault or the guy that sold the gas and help pump it in the vehicle?

not sure if i should tell people this one but...
if you are going to use keyboard duster compressed air stuff, shoot it into your cheek not your teeth, because it can crack your teeth because being compressed air it comes out very cold and can freeze your tooth...
also gold spray paint is the most toxic, so it has the best bang for the buck

this sucks. While we are at it:
Sue McDonalds for fat people.
Sue Card companies for my inability to pull a decent card.
Sue the car company because gas prices are too high.
Lets all sue everybody.
I'm suing Phileagles and Rexvos for telling me I smell like Bologna. Severe emotional distress. Oh, and Kelly too.
