What are the extra bells/whisltes she will need? Eg, do they have versios lke xbox with HD, etc.

The box comes with a system, 1 remote, 1 nunchuck, built-in 512 MB of flash memory, a wireless adapter, and the Wii Sports game. So unless they want multiplayer right away, everything they need to get started is included.
