Trades:

Philly gets Brad Lidge & Eric Bruntlett

Houston gets Geoff Geary, Michael Bourn & Michael Costanzo

For me, it is a decent trade, but the Myers did so well as a close, plus, they could re-up Flash. I like Bourn, because he has blistering speed and could hit. Costanzo was a high pick a few years ago who hasn't done much, plus the Phillies need a 3B and they just let one go.


Rumblings:

Twins and Devil Rays are talking deals. Twins want either Delmon or BJ Upton, but Devil Rays want some of the Twins pitching prosects in return. I'm all for it. We need a ton of hitters here in MN and if we have to trade a Garza or Slowey two get a couple back, so be it.


Anyone else here anything, not related to ARod (Angels & Mets seem mildly interested) & Johan (I still say Dodgers are the front runners for his services, because they've got the most prospects ready for the big leagues).

Word on the streets is that the White Sox are going to make a BIG offer to Torii Hunter some time next week

The Astros got fleeced in that deal. Great deal for Philly, IMO.

Myers goes back into the rotation to shore up the Philly rotation.

Lots of rumors flying around today. It seems the Angels are talking with the Marlins about Miguel Cabrera. If the Angels land him, that helps the Dodgers' chances with A-Rod.

It also mentions the Dodgers and Yankees as being interested in Cabrera, but the Yanks won't give up any of their top pitching prospects (Chamberlain, Hughes, Kennedy). The Marlins reportedly turned down Billingsley, Kemp AND Loney for Cabrera last summer... if that's true, then the Florida GM is quite dumb.

If the Twins could get Kemp, Kershaw & Billingsly from the Dodgers for Johan, I'd be happy. Plus, if Rupert's team was willing to throw in LaRoache for maybe a Garza or Anthony Swazark, I'd be more than happy.

Twins need depth. They have a few players, but need more "MLB ready" prospects. Span is at least a year away. Lis is a couple, same with Parmalee. They need guys now, before the stadium opens in '09 or '10.

I wouldn't give up both Kershaw and Billingsley for Santana. And I don't like the idea of trading Kemp at all.

I'd do a Matt Garza/Andy LaRoche deal right now, if ya want. ;)

I really like LaRoche and think he's going to be a solid MLB player, but I have visions of A-Rod manning the hot corner for the next 10 years. :D :D :D
